Learning to lean into this lavish love-gift is the goal of our lifetime journey.
A journey of a thousand-and-one miles,
spanning the centuries
since that word-spark of “Let there BE” first formed our hearts…for His.
The journey leads across the vast expanses of cosmic glory all the way to
“Amen, Come Lord Jesus”.
A thousand-and-one miles and all of this yet… it takes only one glorious step of submission to cross over from our time-bound present dimension
into the timeless and infinitely dimensional love of our Creator.
All because He first loved us.

God is love.
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
Whoever lives in love lives in God,
and God in them.
This is how love is made complete among us
so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment:
In this world we are like Jesus.
There is no fear in love.
But perfect love drives out fear,
because fear has to do with punishment.
The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
We love because he first loved us.
1 John 4: 16-19

Indeed – because He first loved us … In His love lies the accept, the forgiveness and mercy – and strenght, wisdom and unconditional love! Thank you for the encouragement!
Yes Nina… I need that reminder each and every day. Blessings!
“Because fear has to do with punishment”
WOW! That is an interesting choice of words. What translation is this. As it rolls over and over in my mind I am really investigating what motivates my own fears. Bad things don’t happen as a “punishment” but as a result of living in a broken world. God doesn’t “smite” me, but He does give me strength to get through whatever struggle there is in my life.
What an GREAT thought!
Indeed! It’s from the New International version although the ESV (English Standard) reads fairly well the same! Such freedom…so much to cling to and embrace. Bless you sister!
So glad you use many of C.S. Lewis’s quotes. He along with Augustine are two of my favorites. Lewis is a gold mine for your contributions here.
Oh yes. Limitless treasure troves of wisdom based so solidly on the genius of faith. He is truly one of my favorite “go to’s” as well. Blessings!
“Learning to lean into this lavish love-gift…” What a wonderful way to describe life. Yes!

Every day…it’s another opportunity to learn how to lean. Stumble footed and marble mouthed…we arrive eventually!
